Missing child found safe with her father in Texas

When parents live apart, it can be difficult for both of them to spend as much time with their child as they would like. Sometimes these parents barely speak at all, and one of them may not even have established visitation rights. This can be difficult for many parents and some will go to great lengths to see their child. Recently, in Texas, an eight-year-old girl was found with her father after disappearing from Ohio.

According to police, the father lacked custody rights and it had been over a year since she had last seen him. The child is said to have vanished from where she was playing in Green Township. Police were called one Saturday afternoon and launched an extensive search, even calling in a K-9 to help.

The little girl was found safe and sound that night in Haltom City, Texas. Her mother first received a phone call from her daughter letting the mother know that the child was in her father's care. Although his daughter was not harmed, the father was arrested and is being held for Interference with Custody.

Cases like this can be difficult to settle. If a parent cares about his or her child and looks after the child correctly, then surely they should be allowed to be part of that child's life. Child custody legislation aims to protect the best interests of the child in such disputes. If both parents are deemed suitable, then usually it is considered beneficial for the child to have access to them both.

Reaching a fair child custody agreement is a good way to offer some stability to your child's life, even if you are not on good terms with the other parent. It can also help to avoid situations like this one in Texas, where a parent is driven to take desperate action in order to see his or her child. A knowledgeable attorney may guide you through the process of proving your suitability as a parent. This can be extremely helpful in gaining the custody and visitation rights you deserve.
